Sheltering In Place(s)

I've attained the coast, just in time to be put on lock down by the governor.  It was interesting traveling across part of the SW on the way here, seeing the efforts individuals and corporations and state governments were making to deal with the Covid19 pandemic.  Then there were those who weren't; people I overheard boasting about how they thought it wasn't a big deal and they wouldn't get sick and if they did they'd be fine because they weren't old or compromised, they'd "just" pass it on to others; crazy people (or were they?) wandering the public beaches raving about a medical-industrial conspiracy; and the federal government.  My stance is that I'm always at home because I'm like a snail, or better a hermit crab; I've always got my home on my back.  The lure of the sea is great, but so is the population along its shores, making it an interesting push/pull for me.  For now I've settled into a fairly comfortable rhythm but it looks like we've got several days of rain coming next week so I'm not sure how long I can keep my batteries going, both mental and electrical, especially with all the public libraries closed.  Still I'll try to hang out here as long as I can to wring the most from my effort (carbon expenditure) to get here.  I've signed up to give blood on Tuesday.  I know I'll be relieved to get back to the relatively uninhabited wild lands of the true west, but I'll miss the susurration of the surf, surely, swapped semi-sadly for serene saguaro.
