Yesterday I swooped into the Florence region, just SE of Phoenix, looking for a laundromat and a shower. I was successful with the laundromat in Coolidge (read great reviews online and was not disappointed) but am still in search of the shower. The aquatic center in Florence is closed for the season and the fitness center is too small for a shower, according to the person I spoke to on the phone. I guess I'll have to forge my way further into the high density urban Phoenix area and utilize one of the several truck stops with showers near the downtown there.
I also went to Walmart and picked up a small piece of carpet to put out as a welcome mat when I set up camp, theoretically allowing me to get the dust off my shoes and/or have something non-prickly to step on in my bare feet when I'm getting in or out of the van. It's quite warm down here (I'm down to 1500 ft), with upper 80s during the day and lower 60s at night so I'm down to a scrub top, shorts, and sandals around the clock. I have so many warm clothes and blankets and such though, which at this point are just taking up space. Perhaps they'll come in handy later.
Anyway, it was just a routine errand-running sort of day, with nothing much to get excited about visually until I pulled into a camp on BLM land where I could still get radio reception for NPR and phone data for internet and then the sun started going down and I had a frenzy of picture-taking for about half an hour. Not much commentary attached to these pics as they're pretty self-explanatory shots of camp, and even though I've deleted a lot of them there's probably still too many. They look much better on my phone when I'm taking them than they do when I get them uploaded and can see them on my laptop screen.
Carry on! Here's a link to last night's pics.
