The Beginning of the End. Strike that - Reverse it!

I've been preparing to depart Michigan and return to the west.  Although, did you know Michigan used to be considered part of the northwestern US?  That was when the US only extended as far west as Minnesota.  That's just one of the interesting facts I've bumped into in my research of this area for my alleged novel.
