Hi Y'all, I'm trying a new format for my blog post, trying to get comfortable in my new technological skin... Instead of putting every darn picture in my post (here) I'm going to put a few highlights and include a link to a shared Google Album with all the rest. Okay? Ready, go!
I recently spent 4 day traveling from Chicago to my family's Michigan place (maybe 200 miles?) which is even slower than my usual Denver to Chicago pace of 3 days for 1000 miles. But it was really fun to slow waaaaaaay down and stop for every attraction and even backtrack frequently, all at slow speeds to maximize my mpg!, and get used to living out of my van. Brad asked me if I'd named it yet. Not sure I understand or need to name my vehicles but Vanessa just popped into my mind so maybe I'll go with that for now.
Anyway, lots of interesting experiences and lessons living and sleeping on the road. Here are my highlight pictures and the link will take you to the entire directory (let me know if it doesn't work).

First night was stormy. MI had been having very large waves the last couple of days. Several drownings, unfortunately. Here I am at the first beach I came to inside Indiana. |

Really dug the swamps, marshes, and bogs! ("Water the Swamp! Water the Swamp!) |

In the distance you can see a nuclear power plant. |

Love those dunes! |

Some guy I kept bumping into on the trail. |

When I finally climbed to the local maximum and finished appreciating my position I ran down the slope toward the beach and made some tracks. Wish I was that good on skis! |

Zooming in to show the Chicago skyline to the right of the sunset. |

Another day another dune. |

A lake/marsh in the Nature Conservancy property I visited on my final day, today. |

Such nice soft moss! I was able to go barefoot most of the 4 mile circuit, which was a good thing since my left flip-flop bit the dust on this hike (toe anchor detached). Luckily I have a spare pair. |
But wait, there's many (and I mean MANY!) more where those came from. Click here to see them and let me know if it doesn't work. Thanks, -- Chris
